Romania - People PEOPLE

~Romanians, Hungarians, Russians, Turks, Germans, Serbs, Croats, and Gypsies make up the ethic groups of Romania. Romanians are by far the largest group at 89.5 percent.

~One of the problems in Romania is the low quality of the Health System. Often people who do not have a critical medical condition are still in hospitals and wards simply because they have no way of living in a community through family or other sources. In some hospitals or psychiatric wards there are inadequate quantities of necessities for patients. Sufficient bedding, food, and clothing are not available at many Romanian hospitals and wards.

~Another problem in Romania is lack of child-care. Many homeless children live on the streets. Some children suffer from AIDS and have parents who can’t afford to get their the needed medications and foods. Things are changing in Romania though; Orphanages and homeless children systems are being set up in Romania.
