~40.57 percent of Romania’s land is arable or suitable for farming. The leading crops in Romania are grains, chiefly corn and wheat. Other produce includes grapes and other fruits, potatoes, and sugar beets.
~Romania is divided into 6 land regions. They are Transylvania, Bukovina, Moldavia, Walachia, Banat, and Dobruja. The capital of Romania is Bucharest. The Carpathian Mountain System makes up all of Romania’s mountains. These include the Eastern Carpathians, the Transylvania Alps, or Southern Carpathians, and the Bihor Mountain ranges and other mountain ranges that make up the Western Carpathians. These mountain ranges surround a vast flat area called the Transylvania Plateau.
~The longest and most crucial river is the Danube River. It flows from west to east and flows 900 miles or 1,400 kilometers through Romania. Other major rivers that flow into the Danube from the North are the Jiu, Oltul, Arges, Ialomita, Siretul, and Prut. Romania contains about 2,500 lakes.
